A vibrant, elegant red, boasting black cherry, black currant, violet, cedar and tobacco aromas and flavors. Balanced, while a swath of firm, dense tannins shore up the long, fruity and savory finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. Best from 2025 through 2040.
Macerated cherry, plum, licorice, iron and eucalyptus flavors permeate this concentrated yet supple red, which is rich but never heavy, with ample acidity and dense, refined tannins lending support. Trades a little freshness for ripeness and depth. Best from 2026 through 2043.
Delicately floral and finessed, the 2020 Soave Classico I Palchi Foscarino Grande Cuvée slowly blossoms in the glass. Coaxing adds volume and depth as hints of lemon oil and white smoke give way to flowery underbrush and sweet spice. This washes across the palate with pure elegance, silky and refined, with an attractive sweetness and juicy acidity that perfectly contrasts its mineral-tinged orchard fruits. Pretty inner florals mingle with a twang of lime and liquid rock as the 2020 finishes remarkably long and perfumed; what a beauty. This vintage of Foscarino Grande Cuvée was matured all in thirty-five-hectoliter casks.
The Adami family purchased this vineyard in 1920 and some of the vines have now reached 100 years of age. Asciutto is an old local term meaning “dry,” in the sparkling-wine sense, and the wine carries up to 20 grams of residual sugar per liter, sweetness that amplifies flavors of lemon curd, mango, white peach and golden apple. Lemony acidity balances the fruit, and a cool streak of salinity brightens the finish.
Displaying a youthful red-with-orange color, the 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva is layered with cedar, black raspberry, anise, and tobacco aromas. Medium to full-bodied, it is refreshing without any weight, and its clean acidity is evenly balanced through the wine, with fine tannins that take a pleasing angular feel that’s well-managed. It’s long on the palate, its delicate perfume hovering on the palate after the wine is gone, with notes of bergamot. This very appealing wine will continue to improve with another couple of years in the cellar. Drink 2026-2038.
Cherry-vanilla notes eventually give way to soil and crushed rocks with herbs poking through on the nose, with the chalky, metallic elements of soil remaining present on the palate to push back against ripe fruit in tandem with tannins that cling to the mouth.
Cellar Selection. Beautiful classic aromas of mixed cherries, tobacco, warmed spices and bay leaf enchant the senses. The refined and elegant palate offers a blend of warmed fruit and density, with an earthy, well-structured and mineral-driven finish. Drink from 2025–2045.
